The Montessori Method
Dr. Maria Montessori, developed this educational approach based on her research of children’s natural learning tendencies as they unfold in a prepared environment for multi-age groups.
We discovered that education is not something which the teacher does, but that it is a natural process which develops
Self motivation is the key to learning. The Montessori teacher acts as a facilitator, whose role is to stimulate interest in all facets of the child-centered learning environment. The Montessori environment contains specially designed, manipulative materials that invite children to engage in learning activities of their own individual choice. Under the guidance of a trained teacher, children in a Montessori classroom learn by making discoveries with the materials, cultivating concentration, motivation, self-discipline, and a love of learning.
