Super STAT-urday November 9 – One day camp for middle schoolers

The Grand Valley State University Statistics Department and the Regional Math and Science Center are excited to inform you of a one-day camp being offered on November 9th for middle school students.

Super STAT-urday is a one-day camp program designed to introduce students currently in grades 6th through 8th to the power of statistics and its applications to various fields.  During Super STAT-urday, students will rotate in groups through fun and engaging activities facilitated by Grand Valley faculty.  For instance, participants will learn how statistics are used to help make data-based decisions within disciplines such as chemistry, biology, geography, and many more!

The camp will be held at GVSU’s Allendale Campus and will take place on Saturday, November 9th from 8:30 am – 3:30 pm.  The cost of the camp is $10 and includes a T-shirt, lunch, and snacks.

Attached you will find flyers on Super STAT-urday.  Interested students can go online to www.gvsu.edu/s/rd to register or mail in the attached registration form with their payment.  Additional registration forms can be copied or printed from the website.  The deadline for registration is October 18, 2013.

We feel this is a great opportunity for youth to explore statistics and have a positive exposure to college that can make a significant impact on their future.
