Montessori Journey and Discovery on April 19, 2011

Looking for a school or already a parent at North Park Schools? Montessori education is designed to follow the child’s developmental stages. In a two-hour session, experience what your child will experience in their journey from age 3 to age 12.

Discover the possibilities of a Montessori education

We invite you to become the ‘child’ in our classroom and feel the excitement of rediscovering math, relearn grammar the easy way, enjoy the beautiful sound bells, delve into the history of man, and look at everyday knowledge through our science experiments. All concepts are presented to you as we would present them to your child/ren, with a hands-on approach using the Montessori materials.

Support All-Year Arts and Music Funding in our PreK to 8th Grade Classrooms

December 27th, 2010 No comments

If you enjoyed the Vocal Music Concert at North Park Schools this past December 16, 2010, then please take a few minutes to let the Grand Rapids Public Schools administration know. Many of you are aware of cuts last year to GRPS Visual Arts & Music budget for Pre-K to 8th Grade schools. We need to make sure we give feedback so administration knows arts are a valuable part of your child’s education.

Please contact any and all of the GRPS staff below. Remember to be polite, to the point and mention the school your child attends.

Mittens for Music DVD available

December 26th, 2010 No comments

Our December 16 Holiday Vocal Concert lead by our new vocal music teacher Mrs. Larson, was a rousing success. Many parents were heard saying it was the best in years. Also new this year was our effort to help those in need with our ‘Mittens for Music’ drive. The mittens donated at our concert were given to needy families here in Grand Rapids. Thank you North Park Schools community for always finding ways to give back to our neighbors.

If you would like to relive this evening with your children and loved ones who could may not have attended you can  order a DVD of the ‘Mittens for Music’ performance for $5,  by visiting  www.grcc.edu/duplicationform select ‘DVD’ under duplication form and ‘External’ under billing information. There is a 5.00 shipping charge regardless of order size.

Holiday House 2010 in need of volunteers

November 29th, 2010 No comments

This year the PTA is bringing back Holiday House. This event lets the children shop for holiday gifts for their families for one dollar per gift. The children really enjoy the opportunity to shop on their own for their loved ones. Parents who have volunteered in the past to help with Holiday House know that it is fun and rewarding way to be involved with their children’s school and …jump start your seasonal cheer!

We would like to include an optional crafted gift this year, that the children could make in lieu of one of the gifts on their list. To make this happen, we really need a commitment from at least 15 volunteers.

Please considering lending a day, or half a day, to help with our Elf-ish efforts!

We need help on Wednesday, December 8th to help set up the shop. We need help on Thursday, December 9th and Friday, December 10th to help the kids shop for their family. Please contact Amanda Brown at wilkinsongirl@yahoo.com or 365-0047.

Please indicate which day you can volunteer, and am, pm, or all day and please  be sure your volunteer badge is up-to-date!
AM shift will be 9am–12:30pm
PM shift will be 12:30–4:00pm

Thank you for supporting the North Park Schools PTA.

2010 PTA Survey Results

The PTA survey results have been compiled by our board. You can view online here (opens in new window). Results are compiled in the green column. Comments are in the yellow column.

There continues to be support for our ongoing activities but it looks like we need to work harder to make sure our communications make it home. Boxtops are our most popular fundraiser, followed by labels. The outdoor classroom looks to be the next big idea. Be sure to ask how you can help to make this happen.

Thank you everyone who participated! Look for our 3rd annual survey in the spring 2011.
