North Park Schools

North Park Traditional and North Park Montessori rank among the top performing schools in the city and the region based on MEAP scores and overall student achievement. North Park Montessori is one of only a few schools in the district to earn an “A” on the state’s Education Yes! Report followed closely by North Park Traditional which earned a “B” grade. Our school is proud of our heritage of excellence! Not only is North Park a school of choice—it’s a school with choices!

North Park Programs

Every child is different and there are different styles of learning. Choosing the right learning environment will get your child off to a good start. North Park Elementary offers the following educational programs:

• Traditional Kindergarten-Fifth grade
• Montessori Preschool-Sixth grade
• Autism Spectrum Disorder Program

Unique Montessori Program

North Park is one of only two Montessori theme schools offered in the city. The Montessori environment contains specially designed, hands-on materials that invite children to engage in learning activities of their own choosing. Under the guidance of a specially trained teacher, children in a Montessori classroom learn by making discoveries with the materials, cultivating concentration, motivation, self-discipline and a love of learning. With the unique Montessori model and the results it delivers, North Park has experienced considerable growth in recent years. Students from all over the city interact and learn within a great cross-section of our area’s population.

Preschool

North Park is one of only a few schools in the city offering preschool option—a benefit for both the students and our parents.

North Park Traditional

The strong academic heritage at North Park Traditional is nearly a hundred years in the making. While we serve as a neighborhood school, it is also an educational destination of choice for many children throughout the city.

Middle School Preparation

At North Park we are preparing students for the next step in their education that culminates with the transition to middle school. North Park students can follow one of several middle School tracks: Riverside, Grand Rapids Montessori or City. As a school that consistently leads the region in MEAP scores, a large percentage of our graduates make the successful transition to the rigorous academic environment of City Middle/City High.

Comprehensive After-School Programming

North Park offers the LOOP after school program with rigorous academic and recreation programs for all students. Loop is a free, before-and-after school program, designed for safe, fun, and interactive time for children from kindergarten through sixth grade. The LOOP  offers academic support (tutoring, homework assistance, etc.) by certified teachers. The program also has an array of youth enrichment activities including recreation, arts and cultural activities, field trips, and more.

New and Improved Technology, Library and Gymnasium

Our school community possesses a “pride of ownership” as evidenced in the recent renovation of our facilities. Motivated by parent-led actions that invited much community involvement, our grand old building is now surrounding new generations of learners with a beauty and grace that affects everything we do.

Active Parental Involvement and Community Partners

North Park Schools has a strong and vital PTA and is proud of the support and assistance from all parents! Partnership is the hallmark of our program here at North Park. We recognize that nothing is done nor accomplished in isolation. We know that while the task of educating children may be daunting, it is made much more manageable and certainly more possible when you involve your community of stakeholders in the process.
